Garden for Lost Dreams , 2006
Acrylic on Canvas
59" x 59 "

Painted for Madeleine Dion Stout as a tribute to her mother Sarah Dion (nee Youngchief).

The theme of the painting and the title for the piece came from a conversation Madeleine and I had and from what Madeleine wrote in an email to me when we were discussing what the piece was to be about. The berries depicted are: high bush cranberry; chokecherry; Saskatoon berry; strawberry; raspberry and, blueberry.  There is a wild rose in the center with rose hips.  In the top center there is an amaryllis, which Madeleine said was one of her mom’s favorite flowers.  Also depicted are the compass plant; muskego (Labrador tea); spruce; juniper; fern; milkweed; tiger lily; bluebells; violets; moss; and, prairie blazing star.
