Untitled, 1997
Acrylic on Canvas
8" x 16 " (?)
This is the first painting I did where I would say you can see the beginnings of the style that I've carried through the rest of my work. No longer is the sun/moon or the ground line visible. At this point I was spending a considerable amount of time studying plants, observing them to see how they grew. I was also spending a great deal of time with Elders Yvonne McRae and her brother Wilfred Peltier. Yvonne's home was filled with woodland art and I can see how the colours used by woodland artists began to enter into my work.
