My Bandolier Bag For Steve Powley
36" x 48"

Bandolier bags were made in the 1800’s around the Great Lakes area.  They were large bags featuring fully beaded panels, normally, done in white or cream coloured beads.  The patterns in this piece are indicative of Great Lakes beadwork.  Bandolier bags would normally take the maker up to a year to complete the beadwork and the bags were given as gifts of honour to men.  This is my bag for Steve Powley – who was from Sault Ste. Marie.
